Our Week-end Getaway in PEI

Terry and I don't get to get -away very often , so any chance to "get away" we take it. If you wait for the weather you may never get to go anywhere, especially this summer. This spring has been rainy and cold , we have become accustom to warmer then normal springs so when a normal maritime spring comes along we don't like it ! SO with sweaters and umbrellas we set out , looking for relaxation, yard sales, beaches, a good fish and chips joint maybe a good ice cream shop maybe even some wild life along the way.
We went through  the Cobiquid pass section of the highway just past Truro N.S. , It is high in the mountain range and it is BEAUTIFUL, the valley did produce a deer standing in a field, so cute!On a clear day there is one section where you can see the confederation bridge PEI, only a small window so you have to keep watch. Just reminds you of how high up you are although it doesn't feel like it at all.
If your ever on your way to PEI  stop into this small Kwik Way restaurant if you want good bakery items , believe me it is GOOD ! the blueberry muffins with this crunchy topping are DELISH!

The Confederation Bridge spans 13 miles across from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island. It is an awesome sight !
This view is from the Nova Scotia side. My stomach was in knots thinking about crossing this thing

Terry climbed down the rocks and under the bridge on the PEI side to get this shot.

The hump in mid span is so ships can pass through.Too bad is was cloudy !

We Made it ! Then, we were on our way, didn't matter where  just anywhere. We ended up in Cavendish
I love the Lupins! so pretty . I was on the search for a beautiful patch of them and I got my wish !
This is a cute little camping spot with shops and food . We had our Fish and Chips there, but I am sorry to say  it was  terrible ! oh well the COWS ice cream made up for it ! Yummy .

Lots of things on roofs on the rock , cows, sharks, bicycles it must be an island thing!

This is the house of Anne of Green Gables. We plan to go back on a nice sunny  day and take in the museum and the carriage ride through the shining waters. Much nicer then today.

This is Cavendish National Park. Not quite beach weather for the end of June. I'm so glad I brought alone pants and a warm sweater. We did some beach combing anyway ! The white sand was rather tan in color .I'm hiding my Tim Hortons cup behind my back !

The rocks were made up of sand of assorted sizes of brown tumbled to make a solid rock but if you stand on them they break. Don't stand on a ledge made of them you may end up on your toosh.

We found an old railway caboose at the Borden crossing . Terry loves trains so he had to have his photo taken here.

Nice picture Terry!

This is so cute!

Nice little tourist stop , I even had a bag of Lobster flavored PEI potato chips. The only thing lobster about them were the smell , they didn't taste like lobster at all.. Had to try them though.
The moose is loose.

James Brown Practising his song he wrote

Run For the Cure !

I had an inspiring thought that ,where I was into walking alot that I should put that effort into something worth while. Something to give to the community and have fun doing it. I decided to raise , or try and raise a little funding for " Breast Cancer research. So many of my friends have had this life changing disease so any help I could give I would try my hardest to accomplish. I raised over $300. and trained all summer for the run/walk. I DID IT ! Never thought I could run 5 KM but I did.

It's a new day !

Well, It's certainly new to me ! After living in the valley area of Nova Scotia my entire life ,things change unexpectedly sometimes.I met my personal challenge of closing a business I owned and operated in Wolfville for 15 years . One of the hardest things I ever had to do, but things were out of my control. Now the search was on to build a new life . My search brought me here to this place, Bedford . My boyfriend suggested I try and find work in the city, something that I would never have done on my own. I am so glad that I followed his lead. We now live in Bedford and share a cute apartment, my new job is close and it is starting to feel like home. Although I will always call my home in the valley , HOME . This is the next best thing.

Enjoy my video !
