The strangest things happen!

Well now , we decided to feed the birds . Seems so innocent ! At first we attracted the cute little Chicadees in the winter , they were so cute ! We thought awww,.... this is going to be fun ! The cat loves to watch from her place in the window and it's cute to listen to the chick a dee dee sounds that they make.

Then we had the idea to put peanuts in the feeder to attract bluejays! Oh they are pretty ! But oh my goodness are they ever a greedy bird ! They will come and take every peanut and push the other seeds from the feeder to get to them . They take one and fly away and place it under a leaf on the ground for later and keep coming back until they are all gone. Then they sit a do this SQUAK! sound that screeches. The peanuts have to stop ! Where are my little chick a dees !

Cute birds , we have a family of them now , How lucky is that!

But wait now , What is that???

That sure is the strangest bird !! I decided to take out the peanuts and put some really nice seed in the feeder for some cute little quiet birds . I made sure the sides of the feeder was low enough that the Bluejays couldn't swipe everything out. Now the squirrel is climbing inside the feeder through this small opening and eating all the sunflower seeds.

What am I to do !
Now my little birdfeeder sits empty ! This little creature climbs the tree next to my apartment building , jumps from the top branches to the apartment above me and climbs down to my feeder. The lady who lives above me has small children and leaves her door open on her deck for the kids to come and go . I heard screams and running the other day and thought " boy the kids are really active today" Low and behold , they had a squirrel visit!

So goes my story about my bird feeding ! Now there is a racoon in the compost bin , question is , "Who takes the compost out tonight "?

Yard Sales are week-ends great past time !

A week-end without yard sales is like a day without CHOCOLATE ! When your an addict like me. Over the years I've found some fabulous trinkets, bargains, treasures and found some piece of my childhood on a yard sale table or flea market. Something just keeps me looking ! This summer I found some great things .My first was this three piece lamp set ! I love it , all I need are the shades which I will have to purchase new but my $ 5.00 was well spent!

We've been on the search  for a nice bistro table and chairs for our small sundeck . I haven't found one yet but there is always time ! I did however find this really cozy chair I can relax on the deck with  for just $10.00

AHH hummm,... CASSIE !! She thinks it's really comfy too.

I like this little stain glass ornament . It has a dragon fly hanging above the iris. Cost - $1.00. In the back grown is a shot of my memory bottle of Terry and my week-end get away in PEI

This was brand new ! And only $4.99. I know , I know -- not so cheap but I though it was worth the price. It has a bottle of freshener inside and the scent climbs the reeds to scent your home . Pretty !

I absolutly love this find! It's a figurine of " Miss Susan" ,by Paragon . It was only $10.00. I have been searching the internet trying to find a value on it but I haven't found it yet. I find it hard to find the value of certain thing on the net. I need a collectors price guide ! I did find the value of my " Goodie two shoes" that is in the case behind her. and let me say ! I am protecting this girl !

Terry didn't go away empty handed. He collects things about trains .This picture is so nice to and only $2.00
Well, there are my finds for this week . I have the week-end off work so look out flea markets , Brenda's on the loose. Weatherman please be kind to Brenda !  Pretty PLEASE !!!

Canada Day In Halifax 2011

We visited the Halifax Commons for July !st celebrations. They had the Micmac teepees set up to view . Lots of tents to sell the artistic creations made by the micmac

This tent had a cafe sign I thought was rather funny, so did Terry.

This fountain has been at the commons for many years.

Pretty

A soldier stands guard at  Citadal Hill

I remember when the Union Jack was our flag. We finally got the Maple leaf flag in 1967

Some helicopters flew over the crowd at the Halifax Waterfront

Next a tour of the Alexander Keiths Brewery

This place used to be the brewery and is used now for shops.

A view of the bridge

The fireworks from  Alderney Landing in Dartmouth

They were very nice . My camera doesn't take great pics of objects like that but we were happy to capture some shots.Next year we are going in closer for the full effect.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Canada Day celebrations in their own way , We sure did.
